Romanticism - a real dream of German natural spirituality,
a way to the Unity of Nature.

On stage April 1, 2008. Novalis 1772-1801 reloaded. Romanticism is rediscovered as modern criticism of our scientific system forming our consciousness and development of spirit into separation and division. Novalis [1772 - 1801] is the one who's prophecy became truth: Men would lose their power to combine the varity of colorful light among them through the splitting of spirit caused by dividing the mental unity into objects which would increase the separation of men from nature.

The Novices of Sais -
Nature

written 1798-1799
t
ranslated from the German by Hans-Peter Ludwig

It may have taken a long time before men created the idea to give common names to the mannifold objects of their senses and to take up an opposite position to them. Through training developments are furthered, and in all developments separations and divisions occur, which can be compared comfortably with the splitting of a ray of light. So our inwardness was splitting gradually into such mannifold forces, and with ongoing training this splitting will increase. Perhaps it is only the sickly predisposition of later men, when they will lose their ability to mix up again the scattered colors of their spirit and to recreate the origin, simple, natural state, or to bring about new mannifold relations among them.

Die Lehrlinge zu Sais -
Natur

Original German poetry by Novalis
written 1798-1799

Art Vernissage - Man and Woman Contemplating the Moon - 1824
Caspar David Friedrich

When I started to meet the spirit of Novalis I felt an energetic Aura of a powerful tree which stayed in unity with the winds and the clouds of a wild sky. Within this imagination I painted The Tree of Dream 2. Fourteen days later I realized that one of the most famous German painters Caspar David Friedrich had been born into the Age of German Romanticism, following Novalis, who had seen the first light at Castle Oberwiederstedt (Sachsen-Anhalt) two years before. Obviously Friedrich's paintings reveal the same magic power of Nature in a mysterious timeframe of Fifty years where German Artists, Philosophers, Poets, Writers, Musicians, Pioneers and Discoverers met like rays of the sun:

Immanuel Kant [1724-1804] Gotthold Ephraim Lessing [1729-1781] Johann Wolfgang von Goethe [1749-1832] Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart [1756-1791]

Friedrich Schiller [1759-1805] August Wilhelm Schlegel [1767-1845] Wilhelm Freiherr von Humboldt [1767-1835] Alexander Freiherr von Humboldt [1769-1859]

Ludwig van Beethoven [1770-1827] Novalis Friedrich Leopold Freiherr von Hardenberg [1772-1801] Caspar David Friedrich [1774-1840].
